Lovima Contraception Tablets

Lovima is a progestogen-only contraception pill that works to prevent pregnancy. When used correctly, it can be up to 99% effective. Lovima contains 75 micrograms of desogestrel, a type of progestogen, in every tablet. This form of birth control is also known as a progestogen-only pill (POP), and you may know it better as the ‘mini pill’.

Previously available on prescription only, desogestrel is the active ingredient in Lovima. This desogestrel contraceptive pill works to prevent pregnancy by stopping an egg from being released, also known as ovulation. Desogestrel also thickens the cervical mucus, making it harder for sperm to travel through to the uterus.
